Who said vinegar couldn't be used in desserts? These honey-roasted pears with ApothicAri Fire Vinegar and golden crumble are proof that sweetness and tanginess can coexist beautifully. The vinegar adds just the right amount of acidity to enhance the honey and bring out the richness of the fruit. A simple, indulgent, and comforting dessert—perfect for cool evenings.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

For pears

  • 4 ripe but firm pears (Bosc or Anjou)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon ApothicAri Fire Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt

For the crumble

  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup cold butter, diced
  • A pinch of salt

To serve

  • Greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream (your choice)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the pears. Cut them in half and remove the core. Place them in an ovenproof dish, cut side up.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the honey, Fire Vinegar, melted butter, cinnamon, and salt. Pour over the pears.
  4. Prepare the crumble. Mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Rub in the butter with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse sand.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble over the pears.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the pears are tender and the crumble is golden brown.
  7. Serve warm, topped with the caramelized juice from the bottom of the dish, with a spoonful of yogurt or a scoop of ice cream.
