Sometimes, we like to treat ourselves to a delicious steak of sustainably caught tuna, a great alternative to beef! We season it with a simple marinade of fiery vinegar, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Here's a meal that's both special and quick to prepare, perfect for a romantic dinner or a get-together with friends!
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Yield: 2 steaks
Ingredients
- 2 sushi-grade tuna steaks
- 3 tablespoons of Apothicari Fire Vinegar
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons maple syrup
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- Pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup toasted sesame seeds
- 3 teaspoons sunflower oil
- Sliced green onions
Preparation
- In a bowl, combine the Apothicari Fire Vinegar, sesame oil, maple syrup, soy sauce, and pepper. Stir well.
- Unwrap and pat dry the tuna steaks, then place them in an airtight container. Pour half of the mixture over the pieces, then marinate for 10 minutes, shaking the container once. Set aside the other half of the sauce.
- Pour the sesame seeds onto a large plate, then dip the marinated tuna in them so that both sides and the edges are covered with sesame seeds.
- In a nonstick skillet heated over medium heat and coated with sunflower oil, cook the tuna pieces for 30 seconds on each side, then quickly remove from the skillet. Let rest for 3 minutes.
- On a cutting board, using a sharp knife, slice the tuna steaks into pieces 1/2 cm thick.
- Garnish with green onions and dip in the sauce set aside earlier.
Serve with white rice and a delicious seasonal vegetable salad!
